Workshop: Workshop for Block of the Month - for CQA Members Only
The Block of the Month will be holding a FREE workshop on June 12th from 9-12 noon for all CQA Members. The Workshop will teach the “Made Fabric” method for making your own fabric out of fabric scraps. This “made fabric” will then be used to make into traditional block patterns. This is a great opportunity to use those fabric scraps that you’ve been keeping, but not sure how to use them. All CQA members are invited to sign-up for the workshop. Space is limited to 20 members so if you are interested please sign-up early. The sign-up sheet will be at the Workshop Table during the May 14th and June 11th CQA meetings.

Work on your Mini Quilt for the 2013 Quilt Show. This is a fundraiser activity for our quilt show. It is required to reserve a spot, as space is limited to the first 20 guild members. This FREE workshop will not be open to the public or other guilds.

Lecture: Fun + Funk + Junk = One Unique Quilt Shop
Dawn and her husband Patrick are the owners of The Creation Station Fabric and Quilt Shop, located in Buellton. Her lecture will be: "Fun + Funk + Junk = One Unique Quilt Shop" -- the story of "us" and our shop. How it all started, where we began and where we are today.
Workshop: Sustainable Sensations
"Sustainable Sensations" -- this workshop has been adapted from a Mixed media sampler that first debuted at Houston Quilt Festival. It features simple projects made from recycled paper and plastic grocery bags. She will be teaching a method of "fusing" the plastics bags together to make a more modern "material".

Lecture: Creative You
The lecture covers all kinds of ways to become more creative. Mary Lou explains avenues of creativity, the personality of the creative person and how you can stretch and become more creative with you thoughts and your quilts. Prepare to be inspired and to go away thinking of things you want to do to be a new "creative YOU."
Workshop: De-Calf
This workshop will be a creative day of making a cow with a theme. Think of a cow idea using the word "cow", "her", "Moo", "dairy", "veal", "calf" etc/ We will be making the cow with our sewing machines and then adding the fun things to make your cow a one of a kind. These cow quilts have been traveling across to the US to IQS, Road to California, Sisters, and AQS. You can join the fun and be one of the Cow Parades. Some theme Ideas could be COWlorful (colorful), FaMOOly (family), MOOchachos, Minnie MOOse, MOOgoogaipan, Dairy Queen, MOOtisee (the artist), MOOn over My Hammy, MOOstache, AMOOerica, COWnt Daracula. Read my older blog posts for more ideas. This cow pattern can be found in "Out of the Box with Easy Blocks" book. Take the class and you will make friends, laugh and enjoy process

General Workshop Information

Workshops begin at 9:30 am on the day after the general guild meeting in
Serra Center , 5205 Upland Road , Camarillo CA 93012.

Members may begin to set up at 9:00 am.

Tea and coffee will be provided by the Workshop Hospitality.
Please bring a snacks and/or lunch.

Power cords are provided along with small ironing boards and irons.

The room is ours until 3:30 pm. We generally start packing up by 3:00 pm.
CQA is not responsible for lost or damaged supplies and equipment.

If you cannot attend this workshop, the position may be filled from a waiting list. The new workshop attendee will pay the workshop fee directly to you. Or you can find your own replacement.

Besides bringing what the speaker requests on her supply list, below is a guideline of other essential supplies that you might want or need during one of our workshops:

   Please make sure your sewing machine is in working order and it is always helpful to have it threaded and the bobbin filled. Don’t forget to bring the owner’s manual, just in case it’s needed.

  • ¼” foot for machine & walking foot
  • Extra Needles for machine, in case one breaks
  • Scissors
  • Seam Ripper
  • Pins
  • Rotary Cutter, Ruler and Cutting Mat
  • Small notebook and pen/pencil for notes
